Questions parents ask
Echo and Tusker is a curiosity-first learning service for grades 4 to 12. These answers are for the adult who holds the account. The privacy policy and terms of use are the full picture.
1. What is Echo and Tusker?
Echo and Tusker is a learning service for grades 4 to 12. A child asks a question; Echo answers it, Tusker turns it into a short course, and Mr.Sage helps them practise until it clicks. Every path is walked back to the chapters their school board already teaches. The same account works on the website and the companion mobile app.
2. How does a question become a short course?
The learner types a question. The Service finds the related syllabus topic, writes a short course, then offers a lesson, teach-back and practice. You can see each of those steps in parent space — the question, the course, the pages, and what clicked.
3. Which grades and boards are supported?
The Service is built for grades 4 to 12. During onboarding you choose the learner’s school board and grade so lessons match what they are already studying. If a board or topic is not in the catalogue yet, the question still becomes a short course, aligned as closely as the catalogue allows.
4. Does my child need their own phone or laptop?
No. Many families use one computer or tablet at home. If you want a child to use their own device, you can pair it from parent space with a short code so they learn without opening the guardian account.
5. Does it work offline?
An internet connection is required to sign in, ask a question, generate a course and practise. The site can be installed as an app and will show a simple offline page if the network drops, but that is not a full offline library of lessons.
6. Who can ask Echo to add a topic, and is there a limit?
Asking Echo to add a new topic is part of Echo&Tusker Plus. Each family can ask for 10 topics in a calendar month (India time). Learners under the same guardian share that monthly count. Searching lessons that already exist stays free for subscribers.
7. How do credits work, and how do they relate to Plus?
Practice sessions and other extras spend prepaid credits that you buy as packs through Razorpay (card, UPI or netbanking). A cancelled or failed payment adds no credits. A second learner in the same family does not spend credits again for a Mr.Sage practice, Curiosity course or Teach the AI pack the family already has. Asking for a new one does. Credits are separate from the optional Echo&Tusker Plus subscription: cancelling Plus does not remove or refund credits, and unused credits stay on the account until you use them. They are not refunded if you delete the account. See terms of use for the details.
8. How do I cancel Plus and what do I get back?
The parent or guardian who bought Plus can cancel at any time from Plan & billing at echoandtusker.com. On the monthly plan, Plus stays active to the end of the month you paid for and a month already started is not refunded. On the annual plan, cancel within the first ten months and we refund the unused part, less the annual discount for the months you used (each month started is charged at ₹1,500). For example, cancel in month 4 and you receive ₹12,036 of the ₹19,116 paid. After Plus ends, the first topic of each chapter and everything you got with credits stay available to you. The full wording is in section 5 of the terms of use.
9. Can I see what my child asked?
Yes. Parent space shows the questions they type, the courses those questions become, and their progress. Nothing autoplays, and there is no feed competing for their attention.
10. Is my child’s information safe?
We collect only what we need to run the account and the lesson. Child profiles use a display name, avatar, board and grade — not a school email or phone number. Questions stay with your account. Topic searches are also saved anonymously, without any link to the learner or account, to improve search. We do not show ads, sell personal data, or use learner questions to train general-purpose AI models. See the privacy policy for the full list.
11. What do you collect from parents and children?
From the guardian: email or family login, purchase and credit records, and security details such as an authenticator app if you switch that on. From the child: a display name, avatar, board and grade. Optional extras (birth year, gender, country, language, school type) are never required. We also keep the questions they ask and the lessons that follow, plus technical logs that help us keep the Service reliable.
12. Can I delete the account and the learning history?
Yes. You can delete the account from parent space, or write to [email protected]. Access ends straight away. Profiles, questions and learning records are then permanently removed after a short grace period. Unused credits are not refunded. If you have a Plus subscription, see the cancellation and refund answer above before you delete the account.
13. Do you sell data, show ads, or train AI on my child’s questions?
No, no, and no. We do not sell personal data, we do not show ads, and learner questions, chats and generated lessons are not used to train general-purpose models. We do use contracted processors to run the Service: Zitadel for sign-in, Razorpay for payments, Anthropic (Claude) and OpenAI to generate lessons, cloud hosting, and optional Plausible analytics. If a learner uses the optional Speak your note control in Chrome, that browser may send the audio to Google’s speech service; we do not store the recording, only the note they send. Those processors only handle data to provide the Service.
14. What if an answer is wrong?
AI-generated answers can be incomplete or incorrect. They are a learning aid, not an official textbook or exam key. Please review anything that matters for a test, and tell us about material errors at [email protected]. Complaints and copyright notices go to [email protected].
